What to Expect

Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care .

Brandy was once our office greeter. She passed away in November of 2010. We welcome dogs to our office and would love to meet your 4 legged companions too.

On your first visit to our office you will be welcomed as a member of our family. You will then be asked to fill out our required forms which will help us gain some information about yourself and your condition.

Dr. Elia will then talk with you and ask you some specific questions regarding your condition to determine if chiropractic care may be of benefit to you. If the Dr. Elia can help you, the doctor will let you know. If Dr. Elia cannot help you, you will be refered to a doctor that will be able to help you the most. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

After a thorough consultation with the doctor, you will have a complete chiropractic examination. This will include testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard orthopedic, neurologic, postural, and physical examinations. The doctor will gain valuable information regarding your condition so that a better understanding of how chiropractic can help you. If necessary, the doctor maysend you forX-rays or refer you for additional testing procedures.

X-ray is sometimes required to get a full evaluation of a patient. The need for X-ray is considered on a case by case basis. Many conditions do not require x-ray studies. Dr. Elia uses whatever facility you prefer if the need for spinal studies is required. Most of us have had many x-rays in our life from dental to chest x-rays. For that reason Dr. Elia only orders x-ray studies when it is medically necessary to rule out or diagnois serious conditions or ailments of the spinal structure.

The first visit will last from 30 - 45 minutes. During which time the Doctor will review your past history and current conditions with you. Then explain the treatment plan, and the care he has determined is appropriote for your condition.

Most of our patients begin to see results from the very first adjustment. Our special gentle yet effective alignment of the body is interactive with the patient, gentle enough for kids (they love us), yet able to restore function and movement for the athlete and senior.

Our office participates in many insurance programs. We also accept auto accident liens and workers compensation cases. To find out if your insurance covers chiropractic care, you can call Dr. Elia directly or schedule your free consultation at 201-599-0881 or fill out the insurance form. We offer everyone a free no obligation consultation.

For patients who have little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, flexible payment programs can be arranged.

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week until the desired result is achieved.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need carefor up to amonth, or moredepending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractoronce a month or so based on your lifestyle and goals.
